Senior College Open House

INVITATION

Are you approaching or are you in "the third half of your life" (also called "retirement age") and are you looking for your next challenge?

We invite you to an open house to share ideas and learn more about establishing a Senior College in the Mount Desert Island area.

 

The Senior College is a success elsewhere in Maine and other parts of the United States. The program is based on the concept that as long as the mind is stimulated, the body will flourish. The mission of the Senior College is to provide a curriculum of intellectually stimulating learning opportunities for persons 55 years of age and older. The Senior College relies on volunteers in order to become self-supporting and keep tuition costs to a nominal level. Courses would be offered during the Fall and Spring semesters. The breadth of course offerings could include:

A. Fine Arts
B. Religion and Spirituality
C. History and Social Sciences
D. Math, Science, and Technology
E. Literature, Language, and Culture
F. Current Issues, Domestic and International
G. Health and Well Being
H. Other stimulating topics.

 

We invite all who are interested in learning, as well as those who are attracted to teaching, working in the admissions office, serving on a committee, and participating in Senior College to join us at the Somesville Fire House at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February__

A second open house will be held on Thursday, February __ at 7:00 PM. Please come, and bring your friends.
